The intersection of two different fashions

June 2023 - December 2023

It all started with a poke bowl…

The Spanish education systems forces students to take plenty of subjects in various fields of study, however does a very bad job at showing the relations that can be found between them.

One day, talking about this while eating poke, we asked ourselves:

Is there a connection between philosophy and science?

The answer was… YES

There are plenty of scientific fields (fundamental physics or metamathematics) whose study is closely related to philosophical questions and for which scientists try to find explanations.

The importance of connecting different subjects to make research more successful was the idea behind FiCOU. This conference of philosophy and science highlights the lack of interdisciplinary education in Spanish schools.

The preparation

We presented our plan to University of Vigo representatives and got their sponsorship for diplomas of participation. In addition, we managed to get their main auditorium to host the event.

I managed to secure funding for the event from the city council and promote it through their platform.

I reached out to various experts in this specific field and built a panel of four professionals specialising in the philosophy of different sciences.
